Our membership continues to grow and our reach has also. While 'Associations' are official charter organizations of the Georgia Beekeepers Association or the South Carolina Beekeepers Association, 'Friends' are simply good natured beekeepers sharing their time together. You can see that we are surrounded quite literally by beekeeping groups. Those city and town names circled in yellow are the residence zip codes of OABA members. We do have members in Dublin to the west, Rincon to the east and Harlem to the north, however those areas are off this map.
OABA has a beekeeping mentoring program available too. Depending on your location, your beekeeping experience, the distance between you and a mentor and of course the schedules in life you both keep, mentors can come to you or you can come to them and learn different aspects and skills in beekeeping. If a mentor agrees to visit you, consider providing some gas money to cover the trip and refreshments always make the visit more freindly. We have willing mentors located in Statesboro, Brooklet, Daisy, Rincon, Sylvania, Resister, Twin City and Dublin. Look for a mentor wearing a name tag with a Gold Star at a bee meeting. All members of the club should have a name tag on, we assume if they do not that they are visitors.
