Welcome to our Beekeeping page. This is our ninth year in Statesboro and our purpose is to share knowledge of beekeeping, for people that have an interest in bees, wanting to try beekeeping or have a hive or two or more. Our club is a member of the Georgia Beekeepers Association, one of the oldest bee organizations in the United States. We encourage you to join us and participate in the many programs, and conferences. Sharing and being mentors for new beekeepers is the greatest feature of attending our meetings. The club invites speakers with various that offer insight and shared knowledge to the beginning and experienced. We invite you to attend our meetings and explore beekeeping.
Club activities also includes field trips to local beekeepers, participate in the Kiwanis Fair in Statesboro, a Christmas dinner and other events. Our members attend state beekeeping conference's, other bee clubs and demonstrations at some of our local schools.
We encouragew you to attend our meeting and become a member. A raffle is held at every meeting funds go into the club bank account. Raffle tickets are $1.00, raffle items are bee or garden related donated by members. Donators receive a free ticket per item. twice per year we hold a special raffle, past special items have included complete beehives (minus bees), crocheted spreads and blankets that are bee themed. We invite you to become a member, we offer individual and family memberships. Membership in the club is less than you will pay for a new beekeeping book and we welcome you to attend one of our meetings, held the last Thursday of every month. We do not meet in November and December to allow you family time at the holidays. You can meet fellow beekeepers, compare experiences, ask questions and be a part of the "hive." Just like in a beehive, it isn't the work of the one, but the work of the many that make a successful place to call home. There are other nearby clubs that meet monthly on different nights, presenting different topics and one may be closer to you that Statesboro. Visit the Georgia Beekeepers Association to find the club nearest you.
